Personal status encompasses a set of attributes and conditions that distinguish an individual from others and define their legal position in society. There exists a close relationship between personal status and religion; until the late 19th century, Islamic law exclusively governed Islamic countries. However, since then, gradual transformations in the laws of these countries have occurred. The evolution of personal status in Islamic countries is a complex and multifaceted process influenced by various factors, requiring continuous attention and support to be effectively implemented and yield positive results. This transformation follows a distinct trajectory that continues to this day. The primary research question is: What are the factors and causes of this transformation, and through what mechanisms has it occurred? It appears that the needs of the times, changes in social conditions, new perspectives, and interpretations of religious sources and texts have led to changes in the laws and regulations governing personal status in Islamic countries. This study, through a descriptive-analytical approach, analyzes the legal factors, prevailing perspectives, and methods of transforming personal status in Islamic countries, revealing that the pace of this transformation is not uniform across all countries, and the performance of the influencing factors and causes has varied.
